11 November Buenos Aires, to Iguazú falls: Celebrated Curved Commanding Churning Choppy Cheeky

Not another early start! Mafalda the Argentine cartoon is famous for not wanting soup; for Argentines, a metaphor against the government, comunism, capitalism … anything you have to do but don't fancy. So Mafalda, “Why soup and not late morning latte?”

Checkin scrum negociated, fine paid, coffee finally sourced we were off to Iguatzu falls, and warmer dryer weather possibly!

Warmer yes, dryer possibly not; very humid! Spectacular view of part of the falls from the hotel, situated in the park, and pretty good from the pool, we just had to try whilst we awaited our room to be ready. Swim or snooze; guess who chose what!

The water cascades over basalt rock in a semicircle 80 m high by 2,700 m on the border between Argentina and Brazil. The 275+ individual waterfalls producing vast sprays; Unesco site again, said to be one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world.

Lunch provided lovely but unusually complicated; not sure why we needed a succession of waiters, either because I ordered a fruit plate or because we didn’t yet have an assigned room!

After seeing the view from our balcony, I hastily shut the door. I pray I’ve done it right as the clever cheeky monkeys are on the prowl; after food, or just looking to cause mischief! I bore witness later.

We followed the trails to view Iguazú falls from the Argentine side; the park 70% re-opened after last weeks deluge. Very impressive seeing the rivers in spate; so much water so much spray. Of course too many photos again! Actually having sections closed meant no circling, only doubling back, which was actually nice.

Another dip; with swift shower full on entertainment; monkey business! All in time for drinks with sunset from the roof top bar as requested, followed by dinner.
