Tour of our hosts lovely garden over, we picked up the trail in Crackington Haven climbing up the blustery cliffs. Stunning coastal views of the rocky coast our consolation as we toiled up and down. Modesty to the wind, winding streams sufficed when needs must! Sharing the path with longhorn bullocks wasn’t ideal either! We passed an amazing uphill blown waterfall, pentargon and the curzyway zigzag slate walls.
Lunchtime found us heading down to the picturesque fishing village of Boscastle and a tearoom (refurbished after the 2004 floods) right on the path - of course we stopped for lunch, great food but no cream teas! The slightly easier afternoons saw us passing amazing rock formations (one a window ) as we crossed the mediaeval headlands to see Tintagel with the new suspension bridge across to King Arthur‘s castle. We took the iconic photo, before walking the steep road to the town.
Official SW Coast path: 11miles
