Day 2: Porlock to Lynton Sultry Sea mist; Storm damage; Steep

Updated: Jul 29, 2022

After our Skype Spanish lesson (note to self; don’t wear contacts - text too small!), we walked along the beach, then through the woods to tiny, quaint Culbone church. In search of promised views we took the high road, walking along the cliffs all the way to Lynmouth.

Knees and shoulders grumbling, multiple steep ascents and descents through storm damaged woods, we passed yet another sign saying 7miles to Lynmouth. Clearly Devon has a different definition of miles to me!

Gorse, and sea mist did finally part for glimpses of spectacular views. The 12miles morphed into 15!

Honesty box with welcome cold water was the closest we came to cream tea!

(Compensation - great baklava at the Vanilla Pod)

Official SW Coast path: 12miles

Official running total: 21miles
