Buoyed by our son‘s visit we walked down the hill to Lamorna Cove, only to re-join the narrow, backpack grabbing, bouldery, swampy, overgrown path as it clung to the cliff and walk or rather scramble back up! Compensation, lull in the wind.
Rounding the headland we descended through the woods down to the picturesque harbour at Mousehole. On the way we met our late black naughty spaniel’s doppelgänger!
On a recommendation we ate an excellent leisurely lunch in Newlyn, before strolling along the promenade through Penzance. The geothermal jubilee (1935) pool was in use as were the various docks. It was lovely to walk on a flat path, without being windswept, although strange to have the railway on one side and the beach on the other! St Michaels Mount grew increasingly clear as we approached Marazion; sadly the tide was in so the causeway was covered.
After arming the washing machine (what luxury!) we headed for cream tea, fish & chips and a “proper job”!
Cream tea. Rating 6.5 Chapel Rock Beach Cafe (Fair, nice cream, not enough jam; slow) Not their fault; just the Cornish staffing issues.
Official SW Coast path: 9miles
Official running total: 274miles
