Day 30 Mawnan Smith to St Mawes; Genial coves; Great vistas; hurdy-Gurdy; Grumbling joints!

Updated: Jul 31, 2022

Serenaded by sky larks and sea gulls as we curved round the coast through woods, pastoral meadows and pretty coves; not quite as muddy as yesterday, but not quite as flat either! Compensation; grand panoramic views of glittering Falmouth bay, complete with sails; iPhone inadequate.

Leaving late, due to spanish (or rather my inability to corale my belongings) we never quite got going despite a shorter easier walk; grumbling joints! Stumbling across a coffee van helped. Dog walkers and hikers morphed into beach goers and paddle boarders as we approached Falmouth‘s beaches and prominent Pendennis Castle. Battling knights, medieval instruments and the castle cheered us up, along with ice cream plus the last ferry to picturesque St Mawes.

Promised drinks and dinner on a sunny pub terrace, became fish and chips on a harbour bench as staffing shortages and bank holiday collided!

Compensation badgers; a set of five badgers eating with a lone fox, a nightly occurrence at the BnB. A real treat.

Official SW Coast path: 10miles

Official running total: 332miles
