Day 33 Veryan to Mevagissey Hot; Hayfevery; Hard & Hilly

Updated: Jul 31, 2022

Our daughter wonderfully accompanied us again; traipsing over multiple steep ascents and descents through meadows, cliffs, moorland and woods for a severe hayfever sufferer was perhaps not the best stretch! Compensation - stunning wonderful panoramic coastal views, twinkling seas, blue skies, Cornish fresh air, brilliant sunshine and at Caerhays castle, a lovely shady vegan lunch!

After walking down to Portloe we rejoined the path. We saw them setting up a romantic wedding venue in Caerhays, grazing Dartmoor ponies part of the NT traditional land management programme, stunning views everywhere, the cross on dodman point, many beautiful secluded sandy beaches, coastal villages, thankfully no nudists on Vault beach before walking finally down to the fishing boats in picturesque Mevagissey harbour… and ice cream.

On the way down was the best surprise, my school friend was waiting for us. We haven’t seen each other for 39 years! She hasn't changed. I’m excited to catch up tomorrow - a really lovely Alzheimers gift.

Official SW Coast path: 12miles

Official running total: 358miles
