We took a taxi to the start of the path.(the extra 3miles walk got the thumbs down!) Despite the mizzle we enjoyed walking along the beach and dunes across Woolacoombe bay. We could just about make out Lundy Island from Baggy point as we rounded the headland, where a strange pole turned out to be an air/sea rescue practice aid.
Approaching Croyde beach we spotted surfers and people Rock jumping. After crossing the beach helpful builders pointed out the path; after we’d trespassed! (Wrong steps)
Last was a welcomed flat but long walk through Mod land, Braunton Burrows and the estuary marshes, along the Tarka trail (from the book). We reached Braunton walking along the dyke by the river with striking views across the estuary.
Morning coffee in Croyde morphed into cream tea no 3. Rating 7.5 Sandleigh tea room (Nice!)
Official SW Coast path: 15miles
Official running total: 62miles
