After a steep descent back to Clovelly, we re-joined the path. Blustery winds buffetted us whilst we walked through bucolic farmland dating back to ancient Iron Age, across cliffs with memorials to WWI (torpedoed ship) & WWII (crashed plane). Great views, especially of Blackchurch rock with its double arch; much wilder. Reaching Hartland point we saw the old lighthouse after a big bubble structure - the radar station.
Rounding the corner the dramatic wild rugged coastline and wilder winds snatched our breath. Up and down past black church rock, numerous rivers & coves, across the moors with sheep for company!
We took the obligatory photo of the church through ruins, then headed past Hartland Quay across the cliffs & moors to the YHA; a time warp back to the 80s in a converted old school house.
No cream tea. No tea! No breakfast!!!! Forgot, heros march on their stomachs!
(Consolation - tins & wine from the very kind warden!)
