Strange to be driving rather than walking, on reaching St Christopher’s care home I headed for the bathroom, colliding with the wonderful manager; fortuitously, she said, the garden party was just starting. I wasn’t expecting a party, just to visit mum!
Pushing mum’s chair outside, I met dad and joined the concert. Turning my head, there was Grant Shapps the local MP and transport secretary with his entourage; so not for us after all! Kindly he congratulated us on completing the walk, whilst we posed for the camera! It was lovely; a great lively party.
Hopefully mum’s Alzheimer’s will swallow my forgetfulness in not using her pretty pashmina! It was wonderful to regale her with our adventure in her name and hold her hand. I like to think she knew us and why we were there; sadly she might not!
Later, rushing back from walking Mya, I drove to the next village in search of phone signal.
Adventure in sound; being interviewed by Radio Berkshire https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0cbgb52 about 2hrs 8mins 40+secs after Fleetwood Mac Little Lies. (You may need a bbc app to listen?)
