Walking the SW Coastal Path for Mum 21:09:1940-27:03:2023

During May and June 2022 my husband and I walked the whole SW Coastal Path, 630 official miles raising money for ALzheimer's for my mum Margaret. Sadly she passed away this year in March and we celebrated her life a month later in April 2023. Her tortuous Alzheimer's journey was finally over. It was a lovely way to honour her whilst she was still with us.

Whilst walking I kept this blog, so my dad could enjoy our adventure as it unfurled.

Why? For Margaret - my Mum.

Mum had at the time, end stage Alzheimer´s, sadly spending much of the pandemic in a care home without visitors, including her 80th Birthday. I have nothing but gratitude and admiration for those who cared for her.

During lockdown, like everyone I walked, a lot. I wanted to do something to raise money for Alzheimer’s and I read the “Salt Path,” about a couple walking the SW Coastal path; an adventure was born!

So my husband and I are walked the whole SW coastal path, 630 miles, for two charities… and “yes” the kids did rather twist his arm to accompany me the whole way! We started on 2nd May from Minehead, and finished on 26th June at S Haven Point, near Poole.

Whilst we walked, we raised money for the Alzheimer’s Society, as they were instrumental in helping my dad cope when mum was first diagnosed, and Alzheimer’s Research UK so our children won’t have to suffer my mum’s fate.

We raised £9,000 in total, split equally between the Alzheimer's society and Alzheimer's research. Thank you for all your support. If you would like to support us please donate to our current adventure.
