The lure of sun, sand and sea! Finally, a beautiful beach day. After breakfast and a run (I couldn’t resist the coastal views) we headed out, clad in bathing wear. In true British fashion we stopped at the first lovely sandy sheltered cove, Praia da Rainha; there was a refusal to go further!
We read, paddled, and even swam, before our patch of sand was swallowed by the tide and crowds of fellow beach goers.
Strolling back through the town we spied our dinner spot, a secluded courtyard, procured vinho verde and agreed the first beach was the definitely the best! Another lazy afternoon of supping, swimming, reading (or for some of us snoozing) on the balcony and lounging by the pool. Who knew it took only a few laps to secure the luxury of pool to oneself or that black balcony tiles got very, very hot! The lovely ornate gardens provided ample shade and privacy.
Very decadent!
